Why do we conduct these tests?
It is no shock that we like to better the breeds that we specialise in, as I think most breeders do, and so it is extremely important to us to carefully and responsibly choose our breedings.
Both health testing and screening allow you to access the overall quality of your dog. Simply put, they allow me to see if the dog is worthy of being bred.
Health Testing is completed at around 2 years old, Health Screens can be conducted at any time.

What's the difference?
Both of these are recommended breed - specific tests.
Health Testing is usually completed at 2 years of age and should be carried out on both sire and dam. These access issues such as Hip Dysplasia.
These minimise the risk of your puppy suffering from any of these breed conditions.
Health Screening can be completed at any age, and should be carried out on both sire, dam and puppies. The sire and dam should be completed before mating.
Health Screening accesses breed - specific issues such as Degenerative Myelopathy (DM).
Again, these minimise the risk of your puppy suffering from any of these health conditions.
All of our dogs are health tested and screened before breeding.

What is the result of these tests? If for example, our stud dog is a carrier for DM, then he will only be allowed to breed to clear bitches.
If our stud is clear than he will be allowed to breed to both clear and carrier bitches. |
Carrier dogsWe will never breed a carrier to a carrier.
This is likely to result in an 'Affected' which can impact the dogs life majorly either short-term or in the long run. |
Standard Health Test ResultsAs of current, Year 2020 - 2, we are focusing on Screening more than Health Tests. We will only spay or neuter affected dogs.
Our dogs range from Poor - Excellent and we are focusing on making them all Excellent in the long run. Eventually, we will cull Poor and Fair from our lines. |
